Yes, another article on the perils of smoking that you don't want to read. Smoking IS an addiction and if you beat one addiction before you can beat this one also one day at a time. Fear Fear is a four-letter word that many of us wish would disappear from our vocabularies and our lives. It can be a thing of the past but only when we can face it with honesty. Sent to me by an AA Friend Sobriety (or ending any other addiction) does not mean we are well. The only way we can change our lives is by working the 12 Steps. This article is about someone who didn't. Anyone of us could be this person. If you see yourself in this at all, you have time to change. Which Wolf Do You Feed? All of us have defects and all of us have good qualities. It is our decision in recovery who we want to be. It doesn't happen overnight but the results are amazing with action and God's help. Humility and Step Seven The word "humility" takes on new meaning as we progress through the steps. By the time we are ready for Step Seven, we understand how beautiful and freeing humility can be. Independence Day, Every Day This is the time of year all Americans celebrate independence. When is your Independence Day? What price did you pay for your freedoms? New freedoms and happiness await one day at a time. The Euphoria of Recovery Call it a pink cloud or just call it happiness. The first 30 days of sobriety are exceptionally memorable for many of us. Recovery is for a lifetime and it is difficult to keep that euphoric feeling alive. God Is Doing For Us Not all of the Promises of the Big Book come to fruition easily or quickly. But you might be amazed to find that God is doing for you what you cannot do for yourself more times than you realized. Father's Day Father's Day! Remembering our dads and our relationship with them. These are personal thoughts of my dad. How do you feel about yours? Step Six and the Principle of Willingness Ready, willing and able. We must be ready and willing to have our defects removed but we are only able to do this with the help of our Higher Power. But do we want to get rid of all of them?
