Perfection One Day at a Time
Most people who have addictions have a problem trying to be perfect. There is one thing we can do perfectly and that is work Step One--a strange combination of perfection and humility.

Independence Through Step Three
When we let go and let God we are practicing Step Three. Think of the angst you suffered in the past by trying to do it all by yourself. In sobriety we never have to bear a burden alone. We turn it over to a Higher Power and feel a freedom that gives us peace.

Deny and Enable
It is common for anyone in an addiction to be in denial. And where there is an addict, there is an enabler. But how long can someone stand by, deny and enable a loved one who is addicted. Who is sickest?

The Golden Key
There are days in recovery when we are emotional and frustrated and no matter how we try, nothing changes. Here is a another tool for your toolbox. Try "The Golden Key"! I republish it every now and then to remind myself I can always use a bit more help.

Embrace Life
New Year's resolutions are passe but focusing on a meaningful mantra to live by is not. If you haven't thought about adding anything new to your repertoire of words to live by, try these....embrace life!

After the Obsession is Lifted
Alcohol is but a symptom and our defects may live longer than we anticipate. A single defect may be big enough to force us into a "moral" relapse and require professional help.

Believe in Coincidence?
Is it coincidence or my Higher Power´s plan? How can you possibly know the difference? I celebrate another year of freedom. This time from nicotine. Everything is possible with God's help.

Step 1 - Reclaiming your Power
No matter what method we use to begin recovery we must look at why we just couldn´t quit in the first place. This is a reminder for those already in a 12 Step program and an invitation for those not yet in recovery to learn more.

Another Sober Year
If we are in recovery, we all have one day a year that celebrates our sobriety. I invite you to reflect on yours and those first memories in recovery as I share mine.

Step Twelve Heroes
Step Twelve is all about reaching out to others no matter how long you have been in recovery; one day, 25 years...it makes no difference. Find the hero inside of you by practicing this step every day.
