Summer of Controversy
The Girl Scouts are in the news this July, and the news is not all good. In fact, it is downright controversial. I am sorting out what I think of all the recent press, so I thought I would provide you with the links to some of the recent articles and if any of you have thoughts, please email me.

The New Journeys
The new Journeys are coming.... I keep hearing that and I still don´t know what it means.

College Scholarships and Girl Scouts
My older daughter´s troop is entering sixth grade and going to middle school. With that transition to middle school or junior high, there is often a drop off in Girl Scout membership. This fact has got me thinking about retention.

Insignia on Girl Scout Vests
One of the trickiest challenges of being a Girl Scout parent is figuring out where to place items on a Girl Scout vest or sash.

Girl Scout Homework
Recently, a Girl Scout list that I am on recently had a thread about homework and its place in Girl Scouts. A list member wrote in that she was having difficulties with girls not completing the homework required to earn badges.

Junior Badges 101
For new Junior leaders moving up from Brownies to Juniors, the badges can at once seem to be "more of the same" and yet "new and confusing."

Geocaching and Scouting
I have discovered geocaching, as have my kids, and we are all addicted. Geocaching is a natural fit with Girl Scouting, combining high-tech "compass skills" with hiking.

Camping Adventures Begin
We are finally striking out to camp at a regular camp site. As a troop, our past trips have been to a Girl Scout camp that I refer to as "Camp Hilton."
