Journal Writing and Neuromuscular Disease
While the benefits of personal writing have been well documented, some people find it difficult to get started. To help you, I have provided a few journaling prompts about the experience of having a neuromuscular disease to help you begin journaling.

Water Aerobics with Neuromuscular Disease
When my physician told me to consider non-impact exercise to protect my feet from further deterioration, I resisted at first. Non-impact exercises? How could I get a good workout with non-impact exercise? One of the options I have found includes water aerobics and swimming.

TSA Card Available for Travelers with Disability
While traveling through security checkpoints with a disability may not be easy, clear communication with the TSA Officers regarding one’s disability will simplify the process. The new TSA Disability Notification Card may make moving through airport security a little bit easier.

Respecting My Own Physical Limitations
When I fail to respect my physical limitations and rely on my own strength, I can easily over to it, and even hurt myself. When I respect the limitations that neuromuscular disease causes me, I avoid hurting myself, and, ultimately, can accomplish more.

Coping with Chronic Neuropathy DVD Review
In the DVD Coping with Chronic Neuropathy, Eugene Richardson brings uncommon understanding of neuropathy from his perspective as a long-term neuropathy patient, professional counselor, and patient advocate. He also displays humor and hope while covering this difficult topic.

T’ai Chi beginning practice DVD Review
When neuromuscular disease began to cause increased difficulty with my feet, my physician recommended Tai Chi as a healthy low-impact form of exercise. I purchased a copy of T’ai Chi beginning practice with David –Dorian Ross to teach me the basic movements of T’ai Chi.

Keeping a Gratitude Journal
As I have dealt with my diagnosis and symptoms of neuromuscular disease over the past few years, sometimes my emotions have given way to worry or despair. When I begin to despair, one of my most useful tools is prayer, often in the form of keeping a gratitude journal.

Interactive Games for Young Children
Everyone loves to play, including babies and young children with disabilities that limit their mobility. Interactive movement games engage young children, gently exercise their muscles, teach them about social interactions, and help you to have fun together. Get started with a couple of examples.

Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 Review
When I need to type, I have been using an ergonomic keyboard by Microsoft, called the Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000. This keyboard features a split keyboard design, with the two halves curved slightly. It also has a padded wrist rest. Using this keyboard does put less stress on my wrists.

Accessibility at Disney’s Magic Kingdom
Overall, Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom was accessible, and Guest Services was helpful. The Guest Assistance Pass helped me to reduce waiting in lines. The park did require a great deal of walking and standing, however, and my comfort would have been greatly increased had I used a wheelchair.
