Hank Aaron helped people understand that the Civil Rights struggle required character and skill. As a baseball player he had to be the best on the field and as a human being he had to dodge the racist attitudes and the hatred from his own fans.

Treating people the way you would like to be treated, should be the standard, but what happens when it’s not, especially in the US culture? Many Americans have fought to end the injustice of civil rights violations, but now it seems like we must fight the injustice of blacks mistreating blacks.

Emmet Till – 1955 Murder Victim
Till’s death was more than the story of a mother losing her child to senseless violence and hate, it’s one of the inciting incidences that led the nation to enter the struggle for civil rights. Emmet Till’s tragic murder also put an international spotlight on America’s many racial indiscretions.
