More readers’ favorite food gifts including the best ever chocolate sauce for ice cream, caramelized nuts, truffles and brownie treats. At this rate, I’m going to eat way more than I give out. (Purely in the interests of trying them out for my readers, you understand…).

Continuing this series of articles that celebrate creativity for Christmas, this article concentrates on giving gifts that are drinkable, rather than edible. These are great gifts, especially in these financially precarious times, and show the recipient that you’ve given thought on his/her behalf.

Christmas is a great motivator (and good reason) to get creative, especially if finances are a little tight. Gifts and cards that have been made with thought and care are worth so much more than something bought from stacks of items all the same in a department store.

How to make an ATC or ACEO (art card) for Halloween which you can add to your collection of artist cards or give to someone else for theirs. I’m going scan mine in, print color copies, stick to greeting card blanks and add some fabric paint to give them a 3D effect, and send them to my friends.

Vampires have always been popular characters, but even more so since the Stephanie Meyer books (and films) became so popular, although of course, Count Dracula was the original for elegance and scariness. If you want to be a vampire for Halloween there are many ways of achieving the look.

Witch costumes are great to make because you often already have at hand a lot of the materials and items that you need to make a mere fledgling witch, or a wicked, good or saucy witch – with a little creativity you can put together a sensational outfit for any type of witch.

Pirate costumes are great to make because so often you already have a lot of the items needed to make a really convincing Captain Pugwash or Saucy Susie Pirate Wench, or, of course, Captain Jack Sparrow.
