Ken Burns Effect In Motion - Record Keyframes
We will continue to work on the Ken Burns effect for our Motion trailer. We will be using the Record feature in Motion to create two keyframes that will control the panning of our still image for the Ken Burns effect.
Ken Burns Effect In Motion 5 - Set Up
In this tutorial, we will work on the second scene of our trailer in Apple Motion. This will consist of an image of the entire product which will be animated with the Ken Burns effect. The Ken Burns effect is a technique applied to still images to give the illusion of panning and zooming motion.
Animated Title in Motion
In this tutorial, we will be creating a text title in a Motion project. To give the title a formal style, we will add a simple solid colored rectangle behind the title. Then we will apply the same Motion behavior to both objects in order for them to move together.
Fade In and Out Behavior In Motion
Now that we have our graphic in place and set to the correct duration on the Motion Timeline, we can add a behavior to the image. We want to have the image fade in at the beginning of the video and fade out at the six second position. We can do this with a Motion behavior called Fade In/Fade Out.
Add Image to Motion Project
Now that we have added our Bokeh animation as the background for our Motion project, we can start working on the first section of the project. This six-seconds long introduction will immediately tell the audience what the product trailer is about.
Create Background Layer in Motion Project
Now that we have set the project properties for our Motion project, we can begin to build the composition. Our first layer of the composition will be the background for the project. This can be a static image, solid color, gradient color or animated.
Project Properties for Motion 5 Projects
We will add a solid bottom to the project. Donít confuse this with a background layer that will be the first of many layers that we will add to the Layers pane. These layers will contain the design elements for our project. At this point, we are still working with the project properties.
Start a New Project in Motion 5
Now that we have taken a tour of the Motion 5 workspace, letís start a new project. We will be taking a closer look at a few of the menus and the Project Browser.
Motion Library Content
Apple Motion has pre-built objects, effects and other design elements, called content, that can be added to your projects. This content ranges from a simple static background to more complex particle animations, such as the Bokeh. You can drag and drop several elements to create impressive effects.
Motion 5 Behaviors
Motion Behaviors are drag and drop animations that you can apply to images, graphics, text and even imported videos. To apply a behavior takes a simple drag and drop from the Library and then you can customize the animationís parameters in the HUD or Inspector to suit your project.
