After Effects Apprentice by Trish and Chris Meyer
After Effects Apprentice is a project-based tutorial book. Seeing a software in action is the best way to learn. However, I’m one of those who learn best from a written tutorial. So I was happy to learn that the authors Trish and Chris Meyer included video training on their book's DVD.
iMovie Event Browser
In iMovie you start building your project from raw footage. Your raw footage can be imported in to the Event Library directly from your camera. If already on your hard drive it should be listed in the Event Library.
Start a New iMovie Project
In this tutorial, we will discuss the iMovie Project Library, Event Browser and how to start a new iMovie project from scratch.
iMovie Event Library
The Event Library is the place where all your videos are listed, initially organized by storage location. It is also the place for organizing your video footage by “Events” and an event can be anything you wish. iMovie also has a Keyword system for tagging video clips.
Changing Text-To-Speech Voice on Your Mac
In this followup tutorial, we will learn how to setup a keyboard shortcut to start and stop the text-to-speech feature instead of using the menu inside your word processor. We will also learn how to download another voice that is not already installed on your Mac.
Text to Speech for Educational Apps
Children’s educational app developers use text-to-speech to create the audio for their apps. For example, when the child correctly assembles the letters of a word, an audio file would play the pronunciation of the word as well as the individual letters that make up that word.
The iMovie Workspace
We will begin by taking a tour of the iMovie workspace. Lucky for us, the workspace is very simple and easy to understand. When you open iMovie for the first time, you will see the Welcome screen, which has links to Getting Started lessons and Help files.
What is Apple iMovie
iMovie software has a simple user interface which makes using iMovie an easy task. iMovie has many easy-to-use features that allow you to convert your home movies into professional-looking videos. Also a low price, ease of downloading from the Mac App store and ease of installing updates.
After Effects Exporting HD Video for YouTube
In this tutorial, we will export our finished book app trailer for uploading to YouTube, using the most common HD resolution settings which are 1280 x 720 (16:9 aspect ratio). As for the most common audio settings, you will want to use the AAC-LC Advanced Audio Codec.
Trim Video in ScreenFlow
After you’ve captured your video, the next step is to trim away those sections not wanted in the final project. A software that I use for this is ScreenFlow by Telestream Inc. It’s easy to use and therefore you get the job done quickly. ScreenFlow is a screencasting and screen recording software.
