Hamilton Stripped of Third Place Hamilton was called before the stewards again, to discuss what really happened at the Australia GP, as it turns out some untruths may have been told. Drivers Concerned About Twilight Racing The Australian GP started later in the day local time to allow the race to be more accessible to European audiences. The changed conditions weren´t that appealing to some of the teams and drivers though. Two Penalties from Australia With just one race completed, we´ve already seen a lot more protests, appeals and penalties than we had anticipated. Here are just two penalties that have come out after the Australian Grand Prix. F1 2009, Round 1 - Australia The first race of the 2009 season kicked off in spectacular style, with the considered underdog dominating the weekend. However, protests and penalties crept in to slightly spoil what was an otherwise fantastic opener. FOM Settle Royalties Row Whilst the main topic of controversy so far has been the diffuser row, another argument has been bubbling under the surface, as teams complain that Bernie isn´t paying them the money he owes them. Hamilton Joins the GPDA Last year, there was a big outcry when Hamilton decided not to join the GPDA, but now he has signed up to the association, feeling that he has enough experience now. Two Reserve Drivers Announced Although the third driver role has been severely restricted for 2009, it´s still important to have a backup in case of emergency. Two drivers have been confirmed at Red Bull and Brawn GP. Rear Diffusers Cause Issues The 2009 cars have been in development for months, but now they have been unveiled it looks like some of the teams have interpreted the rules differently to the others. The rear diffusers are causing some angst in the paddock that could affect the Australian Grand Prix. New Championship Deciding System Retracted The FIA announced a new scoring system that would see the driver with the most wins be champion over a driver with more points but less wins. That has now been retracted, thanks to FOTA's intervention.
