We will probably loose our beloved park to the most aggressive citizens among us - the desperate and boring parents running on the treadmill of kidfotainment. Does Having Kids Make You Old? I notice more and more that parents are sold on popular kid-culture as the only meaningful form of society. They endow their children with vampiristic power to suck the life out their adulthood. Adult pursuits are set aside as parents turn into giddy, wrinkled teenagers. Reality Show is Childfree Reality Check This season, the Rachel Zoe Project attracted my attention because the main storyline features her family (husband, sister, parents) launching a concerted attack to convince the childfree Zoe to reproduce. In spite of fur and an unhealthy aversion to food, I feel empathy with Zoe in this situation. Are Childfree Communities Havens? As more adults grow into old age without children with grandchildren, trend-seeking real estate developers are offering childfree housing alternatives. Are age-restricted, child-free communities really havens? Childfree Lives Are Empty? Hardly! Since so many parents seem to view childfree people as inevitably lonely and unfulfilled, I want to collect stories with an opposing point of view. Unfortunately, no mention was made of the one sustainable practice in which significant change can be made in one generation � choosing to have smaller families - or, no children at all The High Cost of Having Children How much does it really cost to have kids? Money is one childbearing decision-making factor that people with kids, and the child free, are reluctant to discuss. Many people seem to opt for a magical thinking strategy when planning for the cost of having children.
