Walking along the cliffs above the Ellisville Harbor salt marsh, I startled a large Blue Heron into flight and then fumbled with my camera trying to get a photo of it. You can walk a mile long trail that leads to cliffs above a coastal beach where seals are frequently seen just offshore in winter.

Cranberry bogs are generally huge tracts of marshy, acidic lands that have been cultivated and groomed by their owners. They always have decently groomed dirt roads all around and throughout the bogs and we used them for dog & goat walking, horseback riding and ice-skating.

Two large draft horses pulled a wagon full of jubilant visitors along the oval dirt path at Old Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts. I was delighted to see all of the simple lanterns that lined the pathway, each with a single twinkling candle inside. There was something magical about its simplicity.

The Mashpee Commons is an outdoor shopping village in Mashpee Massachusetts and it is known to locals simply as "The Commons". What The Commons excels at is unique gifts. There are more specialty gift stores here than anything else. It is a wonderful shopping experience.

As I stood under the huge flag that waved proudly in the breeze above the “America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration” in Plymouth Massachusetts, I had tears welling up in my eyes several times. The show being put on at the bandstand was moving, inspiring and certainly entertaining.

Of the many magical and enlightening experiences that I have had at Menemsha, a fishing village that sits on Chilmark Harbor of Martha's Vineyard island, one of them stands out in my memory. I had arrived at the island by boat to be wed on the beach of Menemsha at sunset. The harbor here is renown
