As we drove up to the Coppertoppe Lodge and Retreat in Hebron, NH, I was admiring the copper roof on the building. But once I got out of the car, and looked behind us - oh, my! That view!

On a rainy Sunday morning, my husband and I boarded Cold Harbor, a Pullman car on the Lake Winnipesauke Railroad´s Foliage Train Ride.

I like trains. I’ve been on many scenic train rides, so I knew what to expect on the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad. Or so I thought. My experience “riding the rails” on this Meredith, NH railroad greatly exceeded my expectations.

We arrived in the Lakes area of New Hampshire late on a Friday. After checking in at the Coppertoppe Inn, we asked Sheila about a good place for dinner. She recommended the Lucky Dog Tavern and Grill in Plymouth.

We happened on York Beach - and the Katahdin Inn - quite by accident. It was a happy accident, considering that it was our first trip to Maine. We loved our time in York Beach, and left with a wonderful first impression.
