If his party is in the majority in the House and Senate, then his agenda will breeze through. If not, then he will be a lame duck president very early. Chris Christie in New Jersey Chris Christie is the governor of New Jersey, and he is rattling some sacred cages there, namely the teachers union. But for all the money the teachers union is spending to criticize the governor, he's getting a lot of support from the citizens of the state. Religious Right and the Republican Party The relationship of the religious right with the Republican Party is awkward at times. While the party platform continues to endorse positions that the religious right support, it does so with a whisper. Rush Limbaugh Rush Limbaugh is vilified by the left regularly. The left also likes to try to paint Limbaugh's comments as those of all Republicans, which is a very erroneous generalization. One thing Limbaugh does very well is rile Democrats, and for that reason, I like him. Republicans Party direction While the fundamentals of what the Republican Party has stood for still garner support from the base, the party needs to look at the current anti-incumbent movement seriously. It's not just about kicking out the Democrats. Tea Party and Republican Party as a family The recent primaries have produced victories for a few “Tea Party” Republicans. I think this is great, and let’s talk about why. States' rights States' rights is a pivotal part of our Constitution. It is something that is often ignored today as federal legislation trumps states' rights. Pushing federal legislation has been a favorite strategy of the Democrats, but here is why that's not a good idea. Taxing business is an oxymoron Taxing business is an oxymoron that the Democrats love to belabor. The truth is that the government never really taxes businesses--it taxes the consumers. Businesses incorporate taxes into their prices, so it's a double whammy to pay sales tax on top of every purchase.
