Clark Doan of Tennessee Genealogical Society gave a wonderful interactive lecture on Navigating Roadblocks. I want to share with you some of the things discussed that night. Each of us was given a question to answer. Below are the questions and some of the replies each group gave.

Native Americans have contributed many achievements, accomplishments and talents to our great nation. This year under the Wagoner Administration, the DAR has focused on Native American “Indian firsts.” I would like to share some of these with you in the next few weeks.

As we research our families with Irish ancestry, there are resources available to assist us. At the start of their Civil War in June 1922, almost all of their archives were destroyed by fire. Here are some resources that are available in doing your Irish Family History.

MyHeritage has announced a Family History Memory Game. This is a game that can be played with the entire family. It can get them excited about their ancestors and descendants; it will give you an opportunity to introduce them to family they may have never heard about. Pictures can even be used!

During my travels to Georgia from Tennessee, I realized the route I took from Mississippi to Georgia, was similar to the ones my ancestor's may have taken. It was very exciting to travel among the places they walked and lived.

Patricia Neely-Dorsey has recently released her newest book of poetry, “My Magnolia Memories and Musings – In Poems”. I really enjoyed reading, “Reflections of a Mississippi Magnolia – A Life in Poems”, so was excited to read her newest work.

Music is an important part of our lives. We use music in our religion, for fun, dancing and singing. Music can be loud, but also soft and low; calming the soul. There have been great musicians that have written and made music since the earliest of times.
