Add the navigation buttons to the portfolio movie that is part of the larger Flash website that we are creating. Once we import the button image and convert it to a symbol, we will be able to add the ActionScript that will make the buttons work.

In this tutorial, we will finish the portfolio slide-show in Adobe Flash Catalyst. If you have been following along, we have made our buttons and are ready to add the special effects.

You need a way to navigate from one webpage to the next and like all websites we will use the buttons in the navigation menu. We have already created these buttons and now we will assign behaviors that will tell our Flash website which frame, and its contents, to display for each button.

Now that you have completed your Portfolio.swf movie, we can add the Loader component that will load the external Portfolio movie into your main movie and a ProgressBar component (also called a preloader).

So far you have set the dimensions of the stage and placed the image that will be the background for your navigational links at the top of the stage. Now you will add some static text to the bottom of the stage. Static text is text that does not change. This text will be the copyright information.

In this tutorial, our goal is to load and run a movie clip with ActionScript. But, the movie clip is not on the stage when the website is loaded. It is stored in the Flash Library.

Now that we have positioned the keyframes for the webpages along the Timeline of your Flash website, we are ready to build the individual webpages by adding the images, text, buttons and etc. onto a new layer that we will call Content. We will add the specific content for the Home webpage.

We will add ActionScript to our button. This code will tell Flash to stop the animation on Frame 80 and listen for the button to be clicked. When the button is clicked, the ActionScript will move the animation on to Frame 81 and the second half of the animation.

In this tutorial, we will add a tooltip to an invisible button. Tooltips tell your site visitors the purpose of a button. Your button does not need to be an invisible button for you to add a tooltip.
