Why Republicans oppose cap and trade
Cap and trade is the reference to carbon emissions caps and carbon credits legislation being pushed by the Democrats and the president. The Republican Party is opposed to this legislation because it would raise taxes on energy and harm businesses.

Voting in mid-term elections
Mid-term elections strongly influence the rest of the president's term in office. If his party is in the majority in the House and Senate, then his agenda will breeze through. If not, then he will be a lame duck president very early.

Three fifths compromise
The three-fifths compromise has been disparaged by liberals because it is "offensive." Let's examine that and once again marvel at the mastery of the founding fathers.

Tea Party and Republican Party as a family
The recent primaries have produced victories for a few “Tea Party” Republicans. I think this is great, and let’s talk about why.

Taxing business is an oxymoron
Taxing business is an oxymoron that the Democrats love to belabor. The truth is that the government never really taxes businesses--it taxes the consumers. Businesses incorporate taxes into their prices, so it's a double whammy to pay sales tax on top of every purchase.

States' rights
States' rights is a pivotal part of our Constitution. It is something that is often ignored today as federal legislation trumps states' rights. Pushing federal legislation has been a favorite strategy of the Democrats, but here is why that's not a good idea.

Sarah Palin's influence
Sarah Palin's entered into the national arena when she was nominated to run with Senator McCain. Even though they lost the race, she has continued to grab the spotlight in a way that few other vice-presidential nominees have. Why?

Rush Limbaugh
Rush Limbaugh is vilified by the left regularly. The left also likes to try to paint Limbaugh's comments as those of all Republicans, which is a very erroneous generalization. One thing Limbaugh does very well is rile Democrats, and for that reason, I like him.

Republicans Party direction
While the fundamentals of what the Republican Party has stood for still garner support from the base, the party needs to look at the current anti-incumbent movement seriously. It's not just about kicking out the Democrats.
