Norma Benporath's 3 Motifs
These three medallions appeared in the Jan. 31, 1935 issue of The Queenslander on page 35 written by Norma Benporath, OAM.
Occhi Schiffchenspitze - Frivolité (Langwieser/Scharowa). The 2011 edition of this book is the same as the original edition with the addition of a few more motifs in the "Musterteil" section and the back section has two peacock designs (one is featured as the new cover to the third edition.)
Oeillet, Oval, Circle, and Loop all mean Ring.
The word oeillet, along with loop, oval and circle are all used to indicate a "ring" in this 1867 Mlle Riego pattern from the Royal Tatting book, pg. 10.
Olympic Interlocking Rings
The symbol of the Olympics is a set of five interlocking rings. The method of tatting interlocking rings has recently been of special interest for that reason.

Onion Rings- Ball thread join
The Onion ring uses a ball thread join, not the traditional up join nor the modern down join. The onion ring join allows a center ring to be tightly surrounded by one or more rings in one or more colors. Used with the self-closing mock ring (scmr) it can build a multicolor wide lace.

Oval Shuttle motif
Norma Benporath (1900 - 1998) designed lovely tatting patterns which were published by SEMCO in the pre- and during the WWII years. This pattern caught my attention because of its oval shuttle-like shape. It is from the Home Beautiful Tatting Book #4
