Series Romances

Hello, all, and welcome back. I hope you´re finding some reading time during this gorgeous spring we´re having. In my reading this week, I got to wondering how you all feel about series. As in, when an author writes a few interconnected books. Or even when more than one author participates in a series. Do you love them? Hate them? Don´t really care?
When it´s a favorite author of mine, I love series, because it means I can revisit characters I liked in past books. But don´t you hate when you pick up a book and then realize you started in the middle of a series? Drives me crazy. Or, worse yet, if you´ve picked them up at a flea market or used book store and find that you´re missing one of the books? Ugh. Been there, hate it.

Fortunately for me, I´m starting at the beginning of the series this week, with Janelle Denison´s "Seductive Fantasy" (Harlequin Temptation). Merrilee Weston had an unhappy marriage and since she was widowed, she´s used her inheritance to arrange the fantasies of others. She owns three islands off the coast of Florida where she makes these things happen, and this time out, it´s Alexis Baylor´s fantasy to be pursued and to get pregnant. Jackson Witt, however, has his own reasons for being on the same island, and his include revenge for something he believes Alexis has done. While I started out really not liking Jackson, as his motivations and feelings change, I liked him better. Very sexy story, and though the ending was a bit too abrupt for me, I liked this book. I´m giving it three of Cupid´s five arrows. So you can find the next book, it´s Carly Phillips´ "Secret Fantasy" due out next month. I´m guessing Merrilee will get her own story told before this series ends as well.

I´m guessing there´ll be a follow-up book to my next read as well: Elizabeth Bevarly´s "The Temptation of Rory Monahan" (Silhouette Desire). Quite by accident, librarian Miriam Thornbury reads an article that she thinks will help her seduce the man of her dreams, Professor Rory Monahan--he´s the epitome of the absent-minded professor. Except that Rory´s been fantasizing about Miriam, much to his surprise. I really liked Miriam and Rory, loved their story. And from some of Rory´s thoughts, one of his brothers--Finn--is going to be getting his own book one of these days. I´m giving them four arrows and waiting for Finn´s story.

Until next week, happy reading!
