Horse Heaven Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc

Washington state´s oldest winery offers a Sauvignon Blanc for your summer pleasure.

The Chateau Ste. Michelle Sauvignon Blanc, from their Horse Heaven Vineyard, will remind you of newly mown grass and fresh summer fruit. The 1999 took home a silver medal from the 2001 Pacific Rim International Wine Competition in Santa Barbara, California. The 1998 took home the bronze in 2000 at the same competition.

Expect great things from the 2000 release. Look for aromas of citrus and pear. There is a light oaky taste, but it's not over done. Expect just enough to add to the texture and flavors.

The flavors are filled with luscious fruit and just a hint of spice to keep it from being overdone. There are grassy qualities that are nicely balanced with the minerally finish. The flavors are clean, but with a medium finish that lingers just right on your tongue.

I have paired this with a spinach and feta cheese pasta dish one evening, and pork chops with rosemary and lemon pepper on another.

The Chateau Ste. Michelle is located in Oregon.
Tradition, innovation and the highest standards are the essence of Chateau Ste. Michelle. We grow our own grapes. We believe in using the finest French oak barrels. Our winemakers have worked and learned in Europe. And our wines are always included among the "Top Wines of the World." At Chateau Ste. Michelle, enjoying great wine is a way of life-and you don't have to be an expert. Our Vintage Reserve Club and winery tours and tastings will help you learn more about this venerable passion.
