Escape to the Past....

Hello and welcome back! I hope youīre all keeping warm and healthy with this strange winter weather weīve been having, and enjoying some new romances. Iīve got three new ones for you this week, so letīs get started.

First up is Sandra Hillīs Blue Viking (Leisure Historical). I have to say before I start that Ms. Hill is one of my favorite authors so I expected to really like this one. I wasnīt disappointed, though it took me a little while to get into the start of the book. Rurik has been searching for several years now for Maire, not because he especially wants her, but because she left him with a blue tattoo in the center of his face after their one night together. And now that heīs found her, he intends to make sure she uses her witchly powers to remove the mark so he can wed another woman. Except that Maire isnīt the most competent of witches, and Rurik keeps getting distracted by her kisses. For me, this one is another keeper to add to my shelf. Rurik is the sexiest Viking since, well, since Ms. Hillīs last Viking tale. Iīm giving this one four of Cupidīs five arrows.

Next up is "The Law and Miss Hardisson" by Lynna Banning (Harlequin Historicals). Clayton Black is on a mission, both personal and legal, to bring back the man who murdered his father and sister. But a set up by the man in question leaves him injured and then in jail. Irene Hardisson is the lady lawyer in town, and she has already interefered in Clayīs plans once, though having her for his attorney isntī the worst thing in the world. This pair strikes off sparks that could ignite a bonfire, and the story is very compelling. Clay and Irene have earned three and a half of Cupidīs arrows.

Finally, we have "The Irish Bride" (Jove Irish Eyes) by Lynn Bailey, who is becoming a new favorite for me. Nicholas Kirwin has to find a way to save his family from ruin, and Rietta Ferris has the money to do it. Too bad heīs attracted to her sister Blanche. Riettaīs father has other ideas, though, including marrying off the elder Rietta first. And when he gets to know her better, Nick suddenly isnīt so attracted to her sister anymore, but Rietta doesnīt realize that right away, believing sheīs fallen for a man who can never love her. Nicely told tale, with a hero whoīll melt your heart. Cupidīs lent me three and a half arrows for this one as well.

Happy reading!
