Waterford Crystal is donating $1.00 of the sale of every Christmas tree ornament to the United Services Organization, USO, a charity that supports the US troops and their families at home and abroad. Along with the Christmas tree ornaments, Waterford is including crystal menorah, the candelabrum that are used in the Jewish Hannukah celebration. The ornaments and menorahs were manufactured in Ireland.

Waterford has also donated two Christmas-tree shaped chandeliers which are making the rounds of the wounded troops in Iraq as part of their seasonal celebrations. The chandeliers will be auctioned off for the USO charity after the holidays.

The USO is well known for its work that started in WWII. Remember Bob Hope? Jane Fonda? Marilyn Monroe? The Andrews Sisters? The USO mission statement is “to provide morale, welfare, and recreation-type services to uniformed military personnel and their families.”

Besides the cash donation from the sale of Christmas ornaments and menorahs, Waterford Crystal sent a shipment of Waterford Crystal Christmas trees and menorahs to wounded American troops overseas.
