The Basics of Making Container Candles

A popular and simple method for creating beautiful candles every time is making container candles. Containers can come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but before you start to pour make sure the container you've chosen is heat safe.

Start by choosing the container you wish to pour your wax in. Crocks, ceramic pots, terra cotta pots and mason jars are just a few of the popular containers you can purchase. If you choose a glasss container, make sure it's heat safe, it will usually say so on the bottom.

After, you've gotten all your supplies together and have set up to pour, you'll want to pre-heat your container, (low setting) about 150 degrees in the oven.

Begin to heat your wax in the double boiler, to the regular temp. of 175 degrees, remove from heat and stir in any additivees, colors or scents at this time.

Remove the container from the oven (use oven mits) and set the wick by using a wick tab, this will eight down the wick, keeping it in place while the wax cools.

Allow the wax to cool and as it starts to form a well in the middle, use your skewer to poke hole around the wick.

Re-pour as many times as needed, making sure to allow each new re-pour to cool before pouring again.
