The No-Cry Sleep Solution

From the time you announce your pregnancy, other parent's will warn you that sleep is about to disappear. Sleep is often elusive when you have a baby or young child. Traditional childrearing books often recommend letting the baby cry it out so they will learn to sleep on their own. Such books cite independence and claim that teaching your baby to sleep is only possible by letting them cry. Elizabeth Pantley offers much kinder advice - and it is all tested by real parents with real babies.

One advantage to being a nanny is that I was able to see real life parents dealing with real babies in many different families. I was a nanny during the time that the Ferber method was very popular. Over and over I saw parents trying to get their babies to sleep through the night by letting them cry for increasing periods of time. What I saw was miserable parents, miserable babies, and a method that only worked for a few weeks before a growth spurt, a cold, teething, or a vacation upset the babies sleep schedule and the whole family had to endure another period of "crying it out."

Another family chose to deal with their babies sleep issues by continuing to get up with their 10 month old baby, night after night. Even after the exhausted mother fell asleep at the wheel and wrecked her car, the family chose to continue their sleepless nights rather than subject their baby to "crying it out."

"The No-cry Sleep Solution" offers tested methods for getting your baby to sleep for longer periods without tears. Pantley works with hundreds of moms to test her methods before publishing her books so you can be sure she is offering more than idle theories.
