VTech has added a new series of phones to their expandable cordless phone family. I tried the 6042. First of all it meets the current energy star guidelines and an important feature to me is that the 6042 brings superior security. Yeah! The phone design is an awesome sleek half inch thick with an offset in the middle to cradle your face. Very modern and sheeky cool! VTech's DECT 6.0 is derived from digital electronic cordless technology which originated in Europe, but is now being adopted worldwide, for cordless telephones, etc.

The 6042 comes complete with a digital phone answering system. Messages are time and date stamped and the 6042 offers remote message retrieval. Excellent! One of my favorite features is that the 6042 also has the extra handset which can be plugged in, and left in a room that does not have a phone jack (such as the garage, the bathroom, or outdoors.) You can also transfer a call to the other handset. Very helpful. This is also great for a third person to join in the conversation, when there are kids around. There is intercom calling between handsets, (very, very, convenient) and you can answer a call while using the intercom system, and of course there is caller ID, a call log, and a 50 number directory.

But, I was really impressed with the clarity of this phone. I as yet haven’t gotten any static or hollow cutouts that can be common with other cordless types. The VTech 6042 DECT 6.0 frequency technology is supposed to ensure reception will not be disrupted by microwaves or interfere with WiFi wireless networking, meaning, generally immune to interference. VTech expandable cordless phone systems are beautiful, compact designs and comfortable to hold shapes. I tried out the 5.8 earlier this year. It's hand set has a full color display, and preset images for wallpaper. A very sophisticated design. It boasts a 50 name and number directory, and is also an expandable cordless phone system. You can dial from the handset or the base and will expand up to 4 handsets, that can be placed anywhere in your home that you have an electrical outlet, because you do not require a phone jack. There is a built in answering machine, speakerphone, and intercom between the handset and base as well, with top of the line security, and range.

VTech was the first to offer the new 5.8 GHz Digital Spread Spectrum technology to the cordless home telephone market. The 5.8 GHz wavelength means you're on a much less trafficked area of the bandwidth than both the 2.4 GHz and 900 MHz products occupy. Around 50$

The V Mix has caller ID, call waiting, and a flashing Cool Lite ringer. Also, speed dial, a belt clip, and is headset compatible. My son’s favorite features with this phone were the changeable handset and base plates in colors to suit his mood, and the easy changeable, 17 preset ring tones, including a bark. Around 20$
