Xyron Create-A-Sticker 150 X - Product Review

Making your own stickers can’t get any easier with the Xyron Create-A-Sticker 150 X. This particular model makes stickers that are 1-1/2 inches wide or smaller, which makes it ideal for punched shapes, die cuts, flattened out silk flowers and ribbons – practically anything that will fit into the Xyron Create-A-Sticker 150 X, as long as it’s not thicker than 1/16 of an inch.

To make a sticker, you feed an item, say a punched shape, into the device, and the Xyron Create-A-Sticker 150 X applies the adhesive and backing paper. Pull the sticker out the other end, rub on and around it to remove the excess adhesive, peel off the film and voila! Instant sticker! This product is really easy to use, and can come in handy if you need to make a whole batch of stickers in a short period of time.

What’s great about the Xyron Create-A-Sticker 150 X is that it applies an even layer of adhesive to the back of the sticker, giving very professional-looking results. This also earns it huge points in the neatness department, especially on surfaces where even the tiniest bit of excess glue can easily spoil a project – say, on flocked paper where glue can mat the flock, or on vellum where regular glue shows through the paper. Moreover, the addition of backing paper also means you can make stickers now and store them for use later on.

The adhesive and backing paper come in a replaceable cartridge – in essence a roll that’s 20 feet long - in permanent or repositionable adhesive versions. The cartridge easily slips in and out of the dispenser, so changing cartridges is no hassle.

The only issue I have with this product is the wasted adhesive that results from the gap between the slot where you feed the item and the slot where it exits. I found a workaround, though: to save on adhesive, remove the cartridge from the dispenser and then manually add the items as close together as possible before pulling them through the cartridge, and then cutting off the stickers as close as you can to the exit point.

Overall I recommend this product. I bought one with my own funds a few years ago, and I still use it often. If you love to create your own stickers, or need an alternative to messy glues, get the Xyron Create-A-Sticker 150 X.
