Albus Dumbledore

Professor Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore is the Headmaster at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He has held the position for years. He was the headmaster when Harry Potter's parents, Lily and James Potter, attended the school. Dumbledore keeps a fond eye on the orphan, Harry.

Dumbledore sends the orphan, Harry, to live with Harry's aunt and uncle, the Dursleys. Harry's mother's love will protect him as long as he lives with the Dursleys. Albus wants him there until he comes of age at seventeen.

Albus Dumbledore has a phoenix name Fawkes. It was Fawkes who carried the sword to Harry fighting the Basilisk in the cave.

Dumbledore heard the initial prophecy that indicates Harry or Neville Longbottom will destroy Lord Voldemort. He shares the information with Harry when they hear the prophecy revealed at the end of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, it is Dumbledore who picks Harry up from the Dursley house. He informs Harry that Sirius Black left him his estate. It is at this meeting that Harry notices Dumbledore's hand is blackened and shriveled. Harry thinks it is burned.

In the same book, Dumbledore talks a former colleague, Horace Slughorn, into returning to Hogwarts to teach. Horace Slughorn resumes his old position of Potions teacher.

As the story progresses, Albus Dumbledore and Harry learn of Lord Voldemort's past. The Pensieve, a magical basin, reveals the dark deep secrets.

The security of Hogswarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is breached. Professor Albus Dumbledore is killed during an attack.
