Scenting Your Way Through the Summer Heat

As I write this article it's June and feels hotter than July. In plain English, it's hot as all get out. One of two things will happen, you’ll either spend your time out in the warm summer heat or you’ll find every excuse not to leave the cool breeze of the air conditioned environment you’re now enjoying.

Summer heat is a great time to create and enjoy new perfume blends. Light- hearted blends with citrus and floral aromas come to mind. And as much as I'm a naturalist when it comes to perfume, there are those of you that enjoy the synthetic blends.

Here's a recipe made from fragrance oils of summertime use.

5 ml Egyptian musk
6 drops Dewberry
2 ml Plumeria

You'll need a few material in order to create your blend:

Essential oils and/or fragrance oils
Perfume Bottles
Droppers or Pipettes
Perfume diluent

What will your scent blend say about you?

Will it make you feel unique, or having you feeling as if you’re standing out in the crowd?

It’s extremely important to get to know the individual oils you’ll be working with. What do I mean by this? Study how they smell and how it makes you feel. Are you happy, sad, melancholy or confused?
What other oils will your selection blend well with?

How much should you use of each? Does one oil drown out the aroma of the other? What type of blending base will you use? Will it be alcohol, oil, butter (shea, mango, coconut ) or bath salts?

Take a course that helps you understand perfumery and aromatherapy. You'll be surprised at what you can do with the knowledge you gain from the use of essential oils. It’s hot, so I’m going to take off for the beach and enjoy every minute of the warmth and beauty of the sun and my favorite scent.

That's it for this week. Until next time Remember ...

Life Never Smelled So Sweet!
