Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez is a many-facetted woman as talented singer, dancer and actress. She also has many different looks, two of which I will discuss today. The first is soft, feminine and could be the girl next door look.
The color:
JLo's hair is a rich brown accentuated by large strands of medium golden blonde outlining the waves and layers.
Highlights are strategically placed to draw attention to a beautiful face and to accentuate the lines of the style.
It is important to remember when creating these highlights, is to not go too light in color. They must blend naturally with the overall hair color so as not to appear stripey.

The cut:
Cut to a level just below her shoulders, this style has long layers starting at the chin and continuing down to the ends.

Ms. Lopez has no bangs in her style, affording a very feminine flow. However, a light fringe of bangs, brushed to the side is also attractive.

The styling:
To wear this style loose and sexy.

  1. Shampoo and style your hair using products that are formulated for your hair type.
  2. Apply hair gel or bodifying mousse to the root area and comb it throughout.
  3. Blow your hair dry upside down to obtain maximum fullness. When it is completely dry, set it on Velcro rollers or hot rollers if your hair is hard to curl. (See Rollers for instructions) Use large rollers on the top and medium sized rollers toward the bottom.
  4. Remove the rollers and turn your head upside down again, combing through the hair with your fingers to loosen the curls. Flip your hair right side up and finish styling using your fingers to arrange the waves. Comb over the top layer, very lightly, to give it a smoother look. (Insert the teeth of the comb about one quarter inch into the top layer of the hair.) Top it off with a light flexible-hold hairspray that allows the style to swing.

Sophisticated updo:
Prepare and set your hair as above. After you take out the rollers, use a wide hair brush, such as a paddle brush, to smooth all your hair back to the crown of your head and secure, using an elastic or narrow ponytail holder. Allow the end to curl and arrange them to cover most of the holder. For an even more sophisticated image, smooth the hair into a bun shape, covering the elastic, and use bobby or hair pins and firm hairspray to hold the ends in place.
