Project-Victorian Ornament

OK- I know the holidays are 6 months away, but I always have these great ideas about projects I want to do for family and friends, and I always run out of time. So-I’m making Christmas ornaments in July! Here is my ornament:

And here’s how to make it.

You will need:
Clear Glass Christmas Ornament
Rubbing alcohol
Burgundy and White Pearl Acrylic Paints
Disposable plastic cup
Cut Away Topper Rubber Stamp – from Outlines Rubber Stamps
Embossing ink pad
Heat gun
Golden Follies Embossing Powder from Sparkle ‘n’ Sprinkle
White cardstock
Glaze Pens from Sakura – Pink #821 and Green # 829
9 Inches String of Pearls trim
18 “ white satin rattail cord
Small, sharp scissors
Craft knife
Cutting mat
Mini Glue Dots
Crystal Stickers – Pearl –Mark Richards

1. Remove hanger from ornament. Place rubbing alcohol inside, swirl around, and discard the alcohol. Turn the ornament upside down in the plastic glass overnight to dry.
2. Place a few drops of burgundy paint, and twice as many drops of pearl paint in the ornament. Rotate the ornament until the entire inside is covered with paint. Turn ornament upside down in the cup to drain and dry.
3. Stamp the image twice on white cardstock. Emboss with the Golden Follies.
4.
4. Cut out both images as shown. Take your time doing this, and use scissors for the outside lines and the craft knife and cutting mat for the inside lines.

5. Color in the designs as shown here. Let dry.

6. Place a crystal pearl sticker in the bottom flower of each oval.
7. Cut three pieces of the rattail cord each six inches long. Fold in half to form a loop. Use the glue dots to attach to the back of the solid image, placing them in every other opening.
8. Cut the string of pearls into three pieces, each three inches in length. Adhere these in the openings on the solid image. Place a glue dot on the bottom of each oval.
9. VERY gently bend the images at the tops of each loop.
10. Place the solid image on your ornament. Adhere each loop, placing the pearls and rattail in between each oval. Place the second image over the top, making sure to offset the ovals.
12. Replace the hangar. Add pearl stickers to the sides of the hanger.

You might want to make an entire tree of ornaments, in a variety of colors. Or , this is the perfect “ little something” for a last minute gift-just don’t wait until the last minute to make them!
