In this day and age we tend to have a mind set that says we can have what ever we want now, we don’t have or want to wait. First faxes allowed us to get information in a much quicker way than snail mail, then of course emails and the internet allow us to get any information we require at the touch of a fingertip.

Thankfully, there are many great quilt websites that have the facility for us to download information (paid or unpaid) in the wink of an eye. This not only saves time, but saves resources that would otherwise be used to deliver the information in a more slower old fashioned manner. (Not to mention the carbon footprint etc….. but let’s not go there!)

To that end, I recently purchased an eProject from C&T Publications – the people who bring us so many fantastic quilt books and other resources. I took a liking to this pattern, and it was very reasonably priced. So I paid using my credit card, and within a short space of time, I received an email with the download instructions for me to follow.

The way it works is that the eProject is made available after the purchase has been confirmed and then an email is sent to the buyer with a link for to use. This link takes the buyer to the website page with the eProject that has been purchased, with the download ready to bring load onto the buyer’s individual computer.

The options are to Run, which means to run it there and then, or to save it which means to save it immediately to the hard drive on the computer. Because I thoroughly trust the C&T Publishing website, I saved it immediately to my hard drive. It took about 4 minutes to download and once it had finished, I opened the file from my hard drive and was able to see the pattern in its entirety, with all the coloured photographs and graphics, beautifully displayed.

I really believe this service is fantastic not only for all of us who love to quilt, but for those that are isolated and unable to have access to bookshops, those who are unable to be home for delivery via courier or government postal services; and last but not least those of us who need it right away!!
