EverQuest Online Adventures

EverQuest was often called EverCrack for its incredibly addictive gameplay. The 24-hour-online-RPG has now come to the PS2, to unleash its power on console players!

The signup process is rather long and tedious, but luckily you only have to do that once. Then you enter the online world, and begin creating your character.

There is a healthy variety of 'people' you can play, mostly drawn from the world of D&D. There are elves and dwarves, barbarians and halflings. Your character can be many classes - paladins, rangers, warriors, wizards. You have standard atributes, strength, agility and so on. And of course you can be male or female, and customize your character's look.

The world itself was incredibly graphic back when EverQuest began, but it looks pretty dated compared to current PS2 games. We played Star Wars - Knights of the Old Republic right before starting this up and the difference in quality and texture was just astounding. EverQuest is almost doom-like in its simple shapes and wallpapered textures. Yes, the world is extremely large. But what involves you in this game is the community, not the graphics.

There are thousands of people on line to play with - to hang out and talk with, to go adventuring with, to plan great conquests with. They help you build your character up, appreciate your skills, and work together to accomplish tasks.

Being a huge fan of MMORPGs, I'm thrilled that it is finally leaving the realm of computers and heading to the consoles. While MMORPGs are fun, being hunched over your computer for hours simply isn't. To be able to play online RPGs with your distant friends while lounging on the couch with a snack and drink is about the ultimate in perfection!
