Belly Dancing and Fertility

Belly Dancing has been part of our culture for thousands of years - back to the Egyptians in 4,000 BC. It has always been associated with fertility and conception. Over the years it has been performed in just about every culture, from India to Persia to China and more.

The round belly of a woman is the most obvious sign of fertility and pregnancy, and belly dancing celebrates that belly, and that fertility. The dance is done with bare feet, to connect the woman to the earth and all of life. The movements are sensuous and elegant, reminding the viewer that the woman is beautiful, no matter what her exact shape and size. It is her ability to bring life into the world that is the celebrated glory.

Belly dancing is a great form of exercise and stress relief, relaxing and soothing. The muscles it builds up are ones used both in intercourse as well as in child bearing.

If you're working on having a child, get into belly dancing! You will tone yourself up, build a greater love for your own body and perhaps bring some fertility good luck into your life!
