I've got a new anthology sitting here on my desk, ready for giveaway the first week of September: Jayne Ann Krentz's
Together in Eclipse Bay (Berkley), which includes all three titles in her Eclipse Bay series, "Eclipse Bay," "Dawn in Eclipse Bay" and "Summer in Eclipse Bay"--all of which I reviewed here when they were originally released. Which means I have copies of all three, so I'm going to share the anthology with one lucky reader. So, the first week of September, pop into the forum for more details and the chance of a free book.
In the meantime, I have two new romances to share with you, including one that is going to be our November book club selection--if it's a time period that interests you, you'll get a head-start on your reading. It's Sue-Ellen Welfonder's latest,
Master of the Highlands (Warner Forever). The last thing Iain MacLean wants is another wife. And Madeline Drummond is pretending to be a nun. Of course these two are destined to be together, but their path will be anything but smooth. As always, Ms. Welfonder's writing will sweep you off to ancient Scotland, and Iain will win your heart even as he win's Madeline's. What a horrid thing when you reach the end of such a wonderful book. I'm borrowing four and a half of Cupid's five arrows for this one. And don't forget, this will be our November book club selection, so we'll be discussing this one in the forum.
The other book I've read for this week is Lisa Wingate's
Texas Cooking (Onyx). Colleen Collins has been sent off in disgrace from her high-profile writing gig in Washington, D. C. to cover Texas cooking in the middle of nowhere. Needless to say, she's none too thrilled about it. Till she gets a gander at True McKitrick. This one doesn't work for me, for several reasons, including the fact that it's told in first person. Reading "I did this" jars me everytime. It also seems a little too cliched, with Collie, the big-city girl who has no clue about anything having to do with country living. If you're into inspirational fiction, you may like this one. For me, it was just not my cup of tea. I'm only giving this one one arrow.
Don't forget, we'll be starting discussions in the forum of our September book club selection,
Say No to Joe? the first week of September, and I hope you'll join us. The book is great fun.
Until next time, happy reading!
