First up this week is Amanda Scott´s new Scottish historical,
Secret Clan: Abducted Heiress (Warner). Ms. Scott is one of the stars of Scottish romance these days, and her new book is no disappointment. Molly Gordon, the Maid of Dusithe, has been hidden away by her uncle since Molly´s father died when she was five, but now her guardianship has been transferred to Wild Fin Mackenzie. Molly believes he´s after her treasure, which has disappeared. Fin thinks he´s going to marry her off to someone else. Both are wrong but stubborn. Molly´s a very strong heroine, and Fin´s more than a match for her, though it takes them a while to figure that out. You all know I love Scottish romances, and this one is going on my keeper shelf. I´m giving it four of Cupid´s five arrows.
Next up is Jodi Thomas´s latest historical,
Texan's Dream (Jove). Kara O´Riley is on the run. She must find a safe place to hide for at least the next year. Jonathan Catlin needs a bookkeeper for his Texas ranch and Kara is the last candidate. Jonathan´s got a year to settle his own issues, which he doesn´t share, and neither does Kara, but this pair does grow closer, and he offers bits of his past. Kara´s past catches up to her just when she believes she´s found happiness with Jonathan, though. I had a hard time keeping up with the secondary characters--there are a lot of them--but I enjoyed the story. It´s earned three arrows.
Lastly, I´m thrilled to share Jayne Ann Krentz´s new book with you:
Lost and Found (Jove). Much more romance than the last book of hers I reviewed. Cady Briggs and Mack Easton aren´t destined to be best friends. Both work in the field of antiques and art, but neither is thrilled about working with the other. Then Cady´s aunt dies and leaves her in charge of the family´s gallery, and Cady needs Mack´s help. Mack is a vintage Krentz hero--sexy, smart and alpha. I loved him. Cady´s no slouch herself, narrowing down suspects without any help from police detectives. This book also gets four arrows. Can´t wait for the next one!
Well, last chance to register for the Romantic Times Booklovers Convention in Orlando. Go to the RT website for more info. I´m looking forward to chat with some of the authors whose books I´ve reviewed since last year´s convention, and to getting to meet some of the readers as well. Hope to see you there.
Until next week, happy reading!
