How To Lighten Hair From Dark To Blonde

They say blondes have more fun. This is a myth of course, but we want to try it once in our lives to see if it is true. If you have darker hair, it can be a tricky process to achieve without damaging your hair to the point of breaking.

When taking your hair from a dark color up to any color of blond it needs to be done in steps. When altering the color with such a drastic changes you are doing a lot of damage to the hair during the process. Lightening the hair in stages is the easiest and safest way to process the hair.

The first visit to the salon is when your stylist does a stand test and sees how strong your hair is. If you have not colored your hair before, she, or he could lighten the overall color and start the lightening process. If you have previously colored your hair, your stylist will start lightening the hair with a full head of highlights.

About every 6- 8 weeks you will continue to lighten the hair with the same process. Doing this causes your hair to become lighter every single time. This is a safer way to become blond because between sessions, your hair has time to recover, and you are not damaging all your hairs at once.

The process can be harsh on the hair and if your hair is fine then you need to be even more careful because it is very fragile. Before starting the lightening process, deep condition your hair and do not wash it for 24 – 48 hours before processing. This will help protect your hair during the process.

Between sessions take care of your hair using Aragon oil, also known as Moroccan oil, and a strengthening shampoo and conditioner to repair and strengthen the hair. Once a week get a deep conditioning treatment and always use a wide tooth comb to detangle your hair taking care not to pull on the strands causing them to break off. Taking care of your hair as well as eating a proper nutritious diet will help with the recovery of your strands and make them stronger.

I would suggest going to a salon to have a professional make the changes for you. Do not try the process yourself, you could end up with orange and red tones that are not wanted.
