Cheap Makeup and Other Fripperies

If you read some commentary on Frugality you find a description of a lifestyle that makes that of The Puritans or Ebeneezer Scrooge seem extravagant and wild. It doesn’t have to be like that at all. As I keep mentioning, I think frugality should free more and more of your time and money to your control, not that of a group of badgering advertisers and creditors.

Since many women control the household finances and are the ones to deny themselves the most for their families, I thought I’d mention some cheap sources of makeup, and recipes for some that you can make inexpensively at home.

While I don’t often wear makeup myself, I know women need it for work in some professional settings, or formal occasions. Also, for some women makeup is fun. Often expensive fun. One of my grandmothers told me the story of how in the Great Depression she saved a couple pennies a week for months to get a "nice tube of lipstick., so I could feel pretty." Sometimes that’s all it takes to feel good.

If you are a person or family who is facing involuntary frugality due to job loss or financial problems, a lip stick now and then, or a home "spa day" can help boost moral a great deal.

Here are some NET companies that are offering great deals in makeup or samples in order to establish an Internet presence. Check them out.

They also send a "sign on a friend" form with the first order which gives the friend a lot of first purchase discounts. Of course, I recommend you and a friend share the form!
