The base of this bag is done in a small netted flower shape that also makes wonderful earrings by itself.
Thread 2 yards of conditioned thread on needle, string 8 beads in your accent color (ac) on thread and tie in a circle.
Coming out of one of those beads, string on 5 main color (mc) beads and one ac bead, go back through the first mc bead after that, string on 4 more mc beads and go through the next ac bead in the ring. repeat all the way around. The last point is done by string on two mc beads after going back through the mc bead following the ac bead and going through the bottom two beads of the first point of the flower.
Weave thread to the top of a petal, coming out of an ac bead start the netting that makes up the sides of the pouch. String 2 mc beads, 1 ac bead, 2 mc beads and then through the ac bead at the top of the next petal, repeat all the way around. String through the beads added in this row until you come out of the first added ac bead.
Work in 5 bead netting for 7 more rounds.
Bring your needle and thread through one of the top ac beads and making the strap, 5 mc beads, 1 ac bead, for a total of 20 ac beads, attach the clasp and come back down with 5 mc beads, go through the ac bead, repeat all the way back down.
Repeat on other side. Put in the teddy bear.
I hope you enjoyed this project! It makes a little bit more then a choker length necklace for an adult, and a long necklace on a child, shorten or lengthen as required.
The same basic idea works well for holding crystals or marbles, they make wonderful gifts or first projects.
