Updo Hairstyle

Updos come in all shapes, sizes and styles. This updo is done on sleek dark hair so the curls are large to show off the sheen. To create an updo similar to this, brush all of the hair straight back off the face. Start by creating a few curls in the center back. Curl a large strand over and secure it with a large bobby pin. Turn the curls in different directions. You can let the ends hang out the bottom of the curl or tuck them inside. Allow some of the end peices to protrude from the top of the curl for about one or two inches of length. Spray the ends so that they are straight and are stiff to make the fan effect.

There is no need to keep the curls symmetrical. Use your own judgement in placing them for an attractive arrangement. Tuck the curls in at different angles. Don't be afraid of removing a curl and placing it again. Smooth each curl to get rid of fly-aways before you pin it.

Use your imagination to accessorize your updo. This updo is accented with golden curls of imitation hair from the hobby shop. It is used to make dolls hair, but gives this model's dark hair just the right amount of contrast.

Finish your style by lightly combing the hair back smoothly and spraying it with firm hold hair spray. After you are satisfied with the placement, spray the curls as well.
