Book of Nathan Review

Rick Bullock left his job at an advertising agency to become director of a New Jersey homeless shelter to honor his late wife. Although going from a six-figure salary to the considerably lower pay of his current position was an expected tough transition, the lack of respect he received also seemed to come with the territory.

He soon found himself on a strange road trip to prove that one of his long-time shelter residents Miklos (Zeus) Zeusenoerdorf had been falsely accused of killing Benjamin Kurios, a charismatic, Bible-thumping evangelist.

Rick got in touch with Doug Kool, an old friend and contributor to the shelter, for the funds to travel to Orlando. Going with Rick on this trip was Maurice Tyson (the only person who could understand what Zeus was saying) and Doc Waters, who has not endeared himself with the mob.

Kool said he would back Rick's trip on one condition - he take Twyla Tharp (not the dancer) along with him. Twyla was the niece of Manny Maglio who runs a string of strip clubs in the NJ/NY area. She was also a stripper, and Manny was trying to get her to take an honest job. He thought sending her to Universal Studios in Orlando for a job interview would help her get out of the stripper business.

Rick reluctantly agreed and off the group went to see if they could get Zeus released. Along the way they ran across a transcript of the Book of Nathan that supposedly revealed at what point during pregnancy a human inherited a soul.

In Book of Nathan, Curt Weeden and Richard Marek have combined their writing talents to pen an entertaining story that will keep readers engaged. There is a serious side to this novel that touches on a sensitive topic involving pro-life and pro-choice groups, while the gang dodges a sinister New Jersey mobster and deals with a devious billionaire. All this goes on as they try to find out who killed Benjamin Kurios so they can prove their friend did not commit the crime.

This comedic mystery is full of humorous twists and turns that will keep the reader smiling, if not laughing out loud. The eclectic travel companions not only have their own quirky conversations with each other, but they run into some very interesting people along the way.

Join Rick and his quirky band of travelers on a road trip like you have never experienced before. Book of Nathan will keep you entertained to the very end!
