Before we get to those, however, I want to remind you all of the goody bag giveaway going on this month over in the forum.
First up is the new Nora Roberts/J. D. Robb, 
Remember When (Putnam). It's a "collaboration" of sorts, with the first half of the book told in the present and the second half set in Eve Dallas's future world. I loved it. To start you off is Laine Tavish whose quiet, if fraudulent, life in a tiny Maryland town is turned upside down by the arrival and swift death of someone she knew long ago. Max Gannon was hot on the trail of the newly-deceased, and now he plans to stick close to Laine, if only to finish his job of recovering stolen diamonds. Falling in love wasn't in the plans, but hey, sometimes the plans get rearranged. When it's Eve's turn, Laine and Max's granddaughter Sam has her life disrupted by the murder of her housesitter--by someone looking for the remaining, missing diamonds, and since she's just published a best-selling book about them, the killer has targeted her. Great twist of plot here, and a can't-miss for Roberts/Robb fans. I'm borrowing four of Cupid's five arrows for this one.
Next up is Judie Aitken's 
Distant Echoes (Berkley). For time travel fans, grab this one! Kathleen Prescott is none too pleased about Jesse Spotted Horse coming to her family-founded school to make a movie that she knew wouldn't flatter her ancestors, but she has little choice in the matter. Jesse wants to expose the truth about the schools his ancestors were forced into. Neither is expecting to have the past swallow them up so they get an even clearer picture about what happened at the Dubois Academy. As always, these are characters you'll believe in, who'll make you feel what they're feeling, and who'll leave you wishing there was more when you reach the end. I'm borrowing four arrows for this one as well. It's a long wait until Ms. Aitken's next release, next December.
Next up is Emma Holly's 
Hunting Midnight (Berkley). Remember Ulric from "Catching Midnight"? Well, this time, it's his turn to have his story told. Juliana Buxton doesn't want to marry the man her father's chosen, so she's running away. It is then that she meets Ulric, whose magic compells her to be with him. Okay, right there, I'm creeped out. I have enjoyed Ms. Holly's straight historicals, but not her paranormals, and this one is no exception. A shame, really. I'm giving this one only two arrows.
And finally, we have Christine Feehan's 
The Twilight Before Christmas (Pocket). You'll recall some time ago, Ms. Feehan had a story in an anthology with Sarah and Damon. Now it's sister Kate's turn, and she's decided to return to their small hometown for good, open a bookstore. But something evil has escaped and Kate, with her six sisters' assistance, will have to battle it. Luckily, Matt Granite is there to help, and Matt's been in lust with Kate for a very long time, making the trip to love a short one. I'm not a big Feehan fan, but I'm loving the witch series so far. I can't wait for the next one. I'm giving this one four arrows as well.
