1 pound hot sausage (loose not links)
1 pound ground sirloin
2 cups diced tomatoes
8 oz. can tomato sauce
1 can light red kidney beans
1 can black beans
2 teaspoons paprika
1 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp roasted habenero powder*
salt and pepper to taste
Brown sausage and ground beef together in a large stew pot. Add cumin, paprika, salt and pepper. Saute for 2 minutes. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, habanero powder and beans. Simmer for 30-45 minutes to blend flavors. Serve with a dollop of sour cream or shredded cheddar cheese on top.

*To make the roasted habanero powder remove stems and cut a dozen habaneros in half. Place them on a cookie sheet and place in 150 degree oven. Crack the door and open the windows. Bake them until they are getting brown and completely dry. Once dry and hard, grind into a fine powder. A little bit goes a LOOOONNNNGGG way so be careful.
