Cleaning Your Car's Carpet from Odors

Keeping your vehicle's carpet and upholstery can be a dirty job. If you are like me, you drive your vehicle everyday and merely getting in and out gets not only your carpet dirty while your upholstery, dash and instruments get dusty. I recently had a minor problem with my air conditioning unit--the drain was depositing small amounts of water into my car and onto my carpet. My first reaction was the worry of moisture and mildew and my second worry was corrosion to my interior as well as my exterior! I immediately had my mechanic take a look at and repair the problem. My next step was preserving my carpet! I wanted to do this job RIGHT and use the best product for the job and I was willing to accept the time consumption necessary. I went to my Auto Zone and they recommended Power Out Carpet Cleaner by Turtle Wax in a spray can. They explained that this is the ONLY advanced cleaning product that you can buy in a store. It contains an odor eliminator to help remove odors caused by pets, cigarette smoke, food and mildew which is what I wanted to prevent or avoid! Naturally, I thought "this stuff BETTER work" or I am going online to tell Turtle Wax what I thought about their product! I went to my self-serve car wash and vacuumed the carpet thoroughly focusing on the areas where the water had collected. I then sprayed the Power Out onto the dirty spots first--the driver's side. The scent was neutral and that was a good sign. You don't want aroma if it's not clean. I let it set and used the agitator cap to scrub and loosen the dirt. I went to the other side and repeated the same procedure. I vaccumed the areas I cleaned. I was very pleased. I admit that a first, I thought i might have to reimplement the cleaner because most cleaners just barely scratch the surface for initial cleaning but this stuff really did far better and my interior has a fresh clean smell. I then left all the doors open while I detailed the rest of my interior. I couldn't be happier with my carpet and I give Turtle Wax two thumbs up for making it possible for the consumer to clean their vehicle's carpets without having to order it special in the mail and such. AND it was only $3.99--there is still enough in the can to do at least three more cars! I totally recommend it--especially if you have had water leak into your vehicle and you are concerned about mildew. Please allow your carpet to dry thoroughly. Till next time, keep shinin' and drive safely.
