The blooms can be found it all shades of yellow, orange and red.
Cultivation notes
Day lilies are very hardy and are perennials.
They are fairly easy to grow, prefering a semi-shady spot and moist fertile soil.
Although the flowers may only last a day, they will keep on flowering for you all through summer.
It is best to divide the clumps every three to four years - this will make sure that you get the best flowers each year.
A warning!
Keep a sharp look out for slugs and snails - as they just love these plants!
In England there are about 20 types of day lily, and most are now grown all over the world. In fact, in the Orient the day lily is grown as a source of food.
Look in the garden centers and plant shops as there are many hybrids of the day lily.
There are a variety of colors and styles with some gorgeous bright colors - especially yellows and oranges.
You should be able to find one just perfect for your own garden!
