Vision Boards are basically visual representations of your goals and ideal life. It’s a tool for reinforcing your positives thoughts and goals for the future. The Law of Attraction tells us that thoughts become reality. Actor Jim Carrey once said it this way, “I would visualize things coming to me. It would just make me feel better. Visualization works if you work hard. That’s the thing.”
Manifesting your goals into reality takes six steps:
- Define your goals
- Prioritize your goals
- Visualize your goals
- Affirm your goals
- Own them, believe in them and expect to achieve your goals
- Consistently take positive, productive action to make your goals reality.
Take a look at the six steps above – how many on that list could be reinforced by using a Vision Board? How about numbers 2 - 3 - 4 and 5?
A Vision Board can help prioritize your goals. When developing your Vision Board, you’ll find yourself unconsciously looking for the pictures, images and empowering sayings that will motivate you personally and professionally. Soon, you’ll see your most important wants and desires beginning to appear.
A Vision Board can help you to visualize your goals. A well thought out Vision Board acts as a visual and emotional reminder of what you’re aiming toward. Think of it as a visual and tangible way of reinforcing the positives of why you’re making your goals reality.
A Vision Board can help you affirm your goals. An affirmation is a short present tense statement positively affirming what you want. Unconsciously, your mind is working very hard to give you what you want. Believe it or not, the words you are affirming to yourself day-after-day become your reality. A Vision Board takes your positive statements and can make them more visual and realistic.
A Vision Board can help you to deepen your inner belief about achieving your goals. Prioritizing, visualizing and affirming can strengthen the unconscious belief that you will achieve your goals. Regularly being able to see the important “wants” in your life can become a powerful success motivator.
Creating a Vision Board is a powerful goal-achieving tool. Creating and looking at the Vision Board is a great start. An additional and vital element is needed - ACTION! If you don’t take action, your goals remain only dreams. Visualizing, affirming and action can become an unbeatable combination.
