Family Plots brings reality tv and the family-run mortuary into our living rooms. It shows us that morticians are everyday people just like you and me, everyday people with a little normal dysfunction thrown in. I finally got to sit down and watch Family Plots and watched a couple of shows in a row, yes it hooked me.
The show takes place in Southern California in a real life family run San Diego Poway Bernardo Mortuary.
The real life cast is as follows:
Shonna Smith-Head Mortician & Senior Funeral Director
Shonna brought her two sisters and dad into the business. Shonna can be a little bit tough on the living, she prefers dealing with the departed. Shonna is always arguing with her sisters or dad, or keeping the peace with everybody at work.
Emily Vigney-Office Manager and Funeral Director in Training
Emily is the younger sister to Shonna, unsure about her future due to the upcoming separation and worrying about raising her son.
Rick Sader-The Boss
Workaholic and recently split with his ex-fiancé Melissa Wissmiller. Rick grew up in his families mortuary, worries about finances and keeping everybody on their toes.
Melissa Wissmiller-Funeral Director & Drives the Hearse
Melissa is the eldest sister of the three girls, trying to step in when needed and stay out of Ricks way.
Chuck Wissmiller-Funeral Assistant, Body Remover, Amateur Boxing Trainer
Father to the girls and hopelessly looking for love. Chuck's uncle Johnny Weismuller, was the original Tarzan.
John Greeney-Assistant Funeral Director and Apprentice Embalmer
John is ranked as the most compassionate director, struggling through separation and looks at Chuck as a father figure.
David Moravee-Funeral Director
David is an Obsessive-Compulsive who tends to drive his coworkers crazy. Recently married and longing to someday have his own mortuary.
Matt Nikoley-Assistant Funeral Director and the newest staff member.
Doubles as assistant pastor, who doesn’t swear and has been known to leave the room when it starts. Matt is a good addition to the team.
