For those who watched last week's live one-hour special episode of Criss Angel Mindfreak on its fourth season on A&E, you know that Criss narrowly escaped death once again.
During the "Building Implosion Escape" episode on July 30, Criss was shackled in the six-story Spyglass Resort hotel in Clearwater, Florida that was loaded with explosives and set to detonate. Criss had to escape the restraints and overcome other obstacles (four doors and five padlocks) in order to make it up four flights of stairs to a hovering helicopter on the roof before the building implodes in front of a large crowd, cameras and viewers at home.
Well, he didn't exactly escape the way he planned. Nothing seemed to go right. Criss was unable to pick the locks on the door and was forced to break through a pane of glass to get back inside the hotel. He also was unable to pick all of the locks on the stairwell doors as the seconds on his dangerous stunt counted down. As the building was 10 seconds away from imploding, the helicopter was forced to move away to avoid the implosion, making it appear that Criss was still inside the hotel when it imploded.
After a worried crowd and Mindfreak team seemed to think he had died, he emerged moments later from the rubble, dazed and covered in dust.
Was Criss really in the building when it imploded? Many of his fans seemed visible upset and online many reported crying thinking he had died. Others are skeptics to how he escaped.
More than anything, Criss is known for his illusions, and as long as he keeps us guessing, that's okay with me.
Season four of Criss Angel Mindfreak actually started on July 23 kicking off with the "Walk On Lake" one-hour series premiere. In this episode, Criss walked on the worlds largest man-made lake, Lake Mead in Nevada, among spectators and boaters.
According to A&E, this upcoming season will feature more illusions, death-defying escapes, demonstrations and astonishing physical feats including being cremated alive, walking through steel and inviting skeptics to be part of a deadly challenge where one wrong move will cost him his life.

Criss must escape the handcuffs, barrel, and box before crashing to the ground.
