Once you make the decision to lose weight, eat healthier or to just pay more attention to what foods you're putting into your body, you'll need to find away to count calories.
I remember carrying around a thick paperback calorie counting book and looking up each item so I could record it in my little notebook. Wow! Things are much easier now.
If you have an iPhone (and I know many of you do), here's a list of 4 iPhone apps that will help you keep track of your calories and reach your healthy eating goals.
40-30-30 by Frank Schmitt - If you want your body to be in top condition, you should pay attention to more than just calories. You also need to watch your protein and carbohydrate intake as well as your fat ratio. The 40-30-30 app is designed to make this easy. Just enter what you're eating and the app will calculate all the percentages.
Calorie Tracker by LIVESTRONG.com - The name pretty much speaks for itself. This app has its own food database and will easily calculate the calories in the foods you enter into the system. You can set it up with calorie goals and the app will keep a running total so you know how much you have left at any time. You can also keep track of your workouts and calories burned.
SlimKicker Calorie Counter by Snubbr Inc. - This app is fun because it turns losing weight into a game. It has a calorie content database, you can create menus and you can set goals. Reach your goals to earn points!
Meal Snap – Calorie Counting Magic by Daily Burn - In this app you can see a picture of the food you're eating and find out ingredients and calories. It also has some fun features like tracking what you eat on daily basis. There are two versions - free and paid. Of course the paid version offers more features.
Now these are the only apps I downloaded and tried, but there are many more in the iTunes store. They all have slightly different features and interfaces, so if you don't like the first one you try, don't give up. Keep looking and you'll find something that works for you.
