Numbers in Dreams, Numbers - Dream Symbol

Numbers in dreams can be quite significant. Sometimes they come to us overtly written out and sometimes they appear in the symbolism of a set of objects.

When numbers appear together, say for instance in a house number, most numerologists suggest that the way to get to the heart of the matter is to reduce numbers until one gets to a single digit. So if you see a house number, say 1441, you add up the digits like this: 1 + 4 + 4 + 1 = 10 = 1 + 0 = 1. The exceptions to this rule are the numbers 11 and 22. Many numerologists consider eleven and twenty-two to be master numbers so look for the meanings of these numbers without further reduction.

My own personal suggestion is that sequence numbers such as 55, 555, 77, 777, 888, etc., should be taken at face value without reduction.

Below are meanings for single digit numbers as well as the master numbers 11 & 22.

Zero

In the Tarot, the Fool is the beginning card and his number is zero. That's not because he's a big 'zero' but because zero is the number of infinity, of limitlessness and that's what the Fool represents - the ability to be foolish enough to believe in a life without limits.

One

One is a number of the pioneer, the leader. 1 can also represent the beginning of something, something that is just beginning to materialize. It may also carry with it a connotation of genius, of having a singular idea or great invention.

Conversely, one might be associated with loneliness or isolation. Look at your dream and how it made you feel to determine the meaning that fits your situation.

Two

The number two might show up via numerical reduction or as an obvious number in the dream or it might show up by dreaming about pairs of items. However it shows up, the number two is numerology is associated with duality. It can represent change or alternating between two different states of mind. It may indicate a condition of flux.

Three

Three can be a very spiritual number representing the Trinity. It may also be a number of triangulation or manipulation. Usually, though the number three has positive connotations and represents a sort of Divine union with the human form. Three can also symbolize the manifestation of ideas into physical form.

Four

Four can be a number of completion or a number of putting things in order. Four can also be a number of feeling boxed in or limited as a square has four sides.

An interesting attribute of 4 is the triple four - 444 - which some people associate with angelic beings.

Five

Five is another number association with the spiritual and specifically the union of the spiritual with the physical. The pentacle or pentagram is a five-pointed star and symbolizes that union. Five may represent the Goddess or one's own divine nature. Da Vinci's man forms a pentacle shape with his outstretched arms and legs. Five can be a number of travel, excitement and innovation. It may also be a number of spiritual teaching and/or learning from a mentor as five is the number of the Hierophant in the Tarot.

Six

Six is an enigmatic number as on the one hand it is associated with Beauty (the cabbalistic sephiroth Tipheret) and union (the Tarot Lovers). On the other hand, many people associate the number six with less than pleasant forces (the Beast's mark, for example). As always, I suggest that you go with which ever association seems right for you; which ever association seems more relevant to your life.

Seven

For many people seven is a lucky number. In numerology seven may represent wisdom, the ethereal, the otherworldly. In the Tarot, seven is the number of the Chariot and as such seven may also represent rapid change or things picking up at a rapid pace.

Eight

Eight may represent the infinite. It may represent success in one's endeavors. Triple 8's are associated with Christ or Christ consciousness. Conversely eight may also represent a loop or a running in circles.

Nine

Nine is another number of a spiritual teacher with nine being the number of the Hermit in the Tarot. Nine may represent the solitary nature or seclusion that one may need to achieve spiritual enlightenment.

Eleven

Eleven is a number of intense spirituality. Eleven is the number of messages and opportunity. Like the 444 sequence, eleven is associated with angelic being or other dimensional entities bring wisdom from those realms.

Twenty-Two

Twenty-two is a number of transformation and high creativity. It is a number of inspiration and work that is divinely inspired.

Fifty-Five

55 is the number of the way shower, the number of integration, the number of the mystic leader. 55 is also associated with the Bride. The Bride in this case is the archetypal bride, the Divine Feminine uniting her consciousness with her masculine side. (Bride, incidentally, is one of the numerous spellings for the Goddess Brighid - a triple Goddess of healing, writing, and smithcraft.)

The link below has excellent information on all the above numbers as well as some not included here. It has references for Tarot, I-Ching, colors, astrological associations, etc. Check it out.

As always, sleep well and dream out loud!
