Ski New England!

Winter in New England means one thing - SNOW! There's plenty of it, and plenty of places to enjoy one of winter's most popular sports, downhill skiing.

Here, in no particular order, is a sampling of ski areas and resorts located in New England states.

In Great Barrington, MA, Butternut Basin offers skiers 22 trails and a vertical drop of 1000 ft. Butternut Basin has snowmaking abilities and two terrain parks open to both snowboarders and skiers. Call them at 800-438-SNOW or visit them on the web at Butternut Basin

Mohawk Mountain in Cornwall, CT, has been a ski resort for 55 years. There are two dozen ski and snowboard trails and five chairlifts, plus a winter sports learning center. For more information, call 800-895-5222 or visit www.mohawkmtn.com Mohawk Mountain

The Saddleback Ski and Summer Lake Preserve is located in Rangely, ME. They boast 41 trails, including some snowboarding trails, and vertical drop of 1,830 ft.
Under new ownership the area has increased its snowmaking capacity. Their website is located at Saddleback Ski Area; their phone number is 207-864-5671.

In Vermont, Jay Peak Ski and Summer Resort in North Troy, offers 66 trails, including cross country and snowboarding trails, and child care. The phone number for Jay Peak is 802-988-2611; visit their website Jay Peak

Ragged Mountain, in Danbury, NH, has 35 trails and snowmaking, plus a vertical drop of 1,250 ft. Their number is 603-768-3971. Visit them on the web at Ragged Mountain

Tiny Rhode Island has Yawgoo Valley, located in Exter. Yawgoo has 12 trails, as well as a separate tubing area and snowboard park. The vertical drop is 245 ft. Their phone number is 401-294-3802, their web site is at .Yawgoo Valley
