Did you know you can have turtles with fish? You have to add a place for the turtles to get out of the water and a lamp for them to bask in its warmth. Only baby turtles are recommended, though.
Also, the turtles have to have a dividing wall (plastic) with holes to allow water to freely flow through the aquarium This is to keep them from eating your fish. Many fish-keepers keep their turtles freely swimming with their fish, but I would caution you that this is taking a risk. The reason is that turtles tend to eat anything they can fit into their mouths and even things they cannot fit into their mouths. Turtles like to take chunks out of things even if they cannot fit the whole thing into their mouths.
The advantage to having the turtles in your tank is that your fish will enjoy seeing the turtles. The turtles stimulate your fish to swim and exercise and interact from the other side of the tank divider. This is the safest way for them to have fun.
Turtles make great aquatic pets and they will give you hours of fun - they really like people and love to interact with you. You just have to follow some safety rules for your dear fishies!
