Canadian Funny Guys

There are so many great and talented Canadians out there. Even though we see many of them (what seems like) daily most of us do not even realize these people are Canadians. Well this week I am going to give you a sneak peek at some of Canada's comedians and remind you of the talent we have to brag about.

Seth Rogan - Well he sure has come a long way since the Vancouver Amateur Comedy Contest, this Canadian funny guy seems to have a new movie out every week. You would have seen him in movies such as Knocked Up, Superbad, Pineapple Express, Kung Fu Panda, Horton Hears A Who and his latest Monster VS. Aliens (just to name a few). His movies are shooting out one after another and each one is a hit, we love him and do you blame us? Rogan is an everyday guy, I find myself laughing out loud at each of his characters thinking of someone I know who he reminds me of. Of course we all still love Jim Carrey, but Rogan's new style of humour is more of what we want to see right now. I mean this guy even earned the attention of the Family Guy writers!

Dan Aykroyd - Well if it wasn't for a certain incident with a pig and a pope we may never have seen Aykroyd on the big screen. Did you know that this Ontario born actor was originally planning on becoming a priest. Lucky for us he was kicked out of catholic school when he brought in a pig dressed up to look like the pope (apparently they didn't share in his sense humour). In need of a new career Aykroyd turned to comedy and the rest is history. Since his time spent in Comedy bars Aykroyd has landed roles in some of our favourite movies, such as Ghostbusters, My Girl, Coneheads, blues brothers, pearl harbour and Christmas with the Kranks. Aykroyd skills go beyond acting as well, he has also written for SNL and won awards for doing so, released a hit album, created his own line of wine and is a alien researcher. Yes, aliens. Aykroyd is a firm believer that "the truth is out there" and he has been studying Ufology and has even made a movie on the subject called Dan Aykroyd: Unplugged on UFOs.

John Candy - Though he is not with us any more I still must mention him. He started out young and quickly grew to be a household name, but if it was not for a couple of friends (one of which included Dan Aykroyd) we may never have seen his talent. It was these friends that well, basically tricked John Candy into his audition for the Second City theatre in Toronto. It was from this moment that his career snowballed into something much greater. Though many of his movies flopped remain to us today as classic as Black Beauty. We have seen the movies space balls, uncle buck and the great outdoors to name a few. John Candy was "the guy next door" maybe this is why we let him into our hearts. It was a shock to us all when we found out about his death. People across Canada and the acting world alike bowed their heads and remembered what a great person he truly was.

These are just three of Canada's very talented Comedians there are so many more including the likes of Eugene Levy, Jim Carrey, and Mike Myers. Each with their own style they all bring something original to our favourite movies. We love them all and yes we love to brag about them (who wouldn't).
